I’m wondering if actually we might end up talking about this a lot, so it might need its own board…hmmm. Anyway, will proceed as is for now, and see what develops – can always move the post if necessary (clever little forum plugin!).
So…
I thought people might be interested to see this post about SEO on WordPress.com – http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2013/03/22/seo-on-wordpress-com/ – a lot of it is relevant to us, though we’re on .org rather than .com sites, although there are some parts which we’ve had to put in ourselves (eg XML Sitemap) which is built automatically into a WordPress.com blog. I thought it was an interesting post, anyway, and with a few useful tips, too.One of the things it links to is the Google guide to basic SEO, which I thought it might also be worth posting here: http://static.googleusercontent.com/external_content/untrusted_dlcp/www.google.com/en/us/webmasters/docs/search-engine-optimization-starter-guide.pdf
– there you go! Actually, that might be less helpful and could cause confusion, perhaps, as a lot of the things it’s talking about are things that we don’t ever need to worry about since WordPress, and Jason’s fab themes, have already done almost all of the hard work for us. However, it does have some useful macro-tips, and some tweaks that people might want to think about, and is generally a good way of getting an overall picture of what we’re aiming for, I think.25th March 2013 at 12:54 pm #632ichurchGuestHere I am again, this time with a fascinating infographic that I found on Jeff Bullas’s blog (http://www.jeffbullas.com), about the interaction between quality content and SEO:

25th March 2013 at 2:43 pm #633Lawrence MooreParticipantThis is a really important topic, Rebecca. Thanks for starting a separate topic. Fortunately, WordPress is remarkably SEO-friendly and the iChurch template has been built to be extra-friendly!
25th March 2013 at 4:43 pm #636ichurchKeymasterYes, that was what I was appreciating as I was reading the stuff in my first post above 🙂

27th November 2014 at 1:06 pm #991Biscuit MasterParticipantIntersting article. Although I use some SEOs, Rebecca, I’m aware I should really expand this idea. When I upload a post, I do also make sure there is a photo included to make it more appealing.
